8 Moab is my washpot; over Edom will I cast out my shoe: Philistia, triumph thou because of me.
9 Who will bring me into the strong city? who will lead me into Edom?
10 Wilt not thou, O God, which hadst east us off? and thou, O God, which didst not go out with our armies?
11 Give us help from trouble: for vain is the help of man.
12 Through God we shall do valiantly: for he it is that shall tread down our enemies.
Confidence in God’s strength, even though for a time it may appear to fail us — it will not do so ultimately. God’s “banner” (verse 4) is Love (Sol. Song 11: 4) and here we find it is “displayed be-cause of the truth,” i.e., our firm foundation is the Divine unity of Love and Truth, as in John I: 17.
Valiant (verse 12).
Psalm 61.
HEAR my cry, O God; attend unto my prayer.
2 From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee, when my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is higher than I.
rock . Cf. Pa. XL11: g and LX11: 2.
