4 Then will I go unto the altar of God, unto God my exceeding joy: yea, upon the harp will I praise thee, O God my God.
5 Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted within me? hope in God: for I shall yet praise him, who is the health of my countenance, and my God.
Here Light and Truth are coupled together. If we desire to be led by them, they will bring us into the Holy Hill. We shall come to know all the peaks and valleys and passes of the Mountains of God, and also His secret place called His tabernacle.
“Then;’ as a consequence of this leading and knowledge, we shall go to God’s altar, i.e., be able to worship Him in Spirit and Truth, and the result is “exceeding joy” (as in Ps. XL: 16). With these reflections he comforts himself when in heaviness (verse 5 and Ps. XL11: and 11).
