OVERCOMING IRRITATION
Question—People not only irritate me but I much prefer to be alone. A condition over which I worry lately is, that I do not trust my fellow beings. It used to be simply a desire to be left alone. Now it is an actual fear of what this one might say or that one might do. How can I overcome this?
ANSWER—Know that there is nothing in people which can irritate you and nothing in you, which can irritate people. Try to gain a broadgauged, tolerant attitude toward life. After all, no one has yet completely attained perfection and we are all children in Truth, all travelers on the road. We all make mistakes and most of these mistakes should be overlooked. Someday we shall learn not to be confused; we shall see through the outward differences to the inner unity of all life. In this way we join forces with the best that is in people and thereby bring the good to the surface. Try this for awhile and see what effect it will have. (page 154)
