OVERCOMING SELF-CONSCIOUSNESS
Question—How can I overcome self-consciousness and an inferiority complex?
ANSWER-YOU suffer because you are directing your mental forces toward that which is not the REAL YOU. The treatment lies in realizing what YOU really are. You are that splendid, radiant, All-conquering Son of God—the capable exponent of Life Itself, and you are as necessary to this Infinite Expression as Life is necessary to your experience. The Spirit in the person before whom you quail, is the very same Spirit that is within you, for Spirit is One. Why tremble before yourself? These qualities which you admire in another, self-assurance and charm, are elements in your own make-up. If this were not so, you could not know them, since we only know that which we ARE. The treatment lies in reversing your mental process. Realize that whatever good you recognize in another is part of yourself.
Say, as the ancients taught their pupils to say, "Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful me." Realize that this "me" is holy, divine substance and life, known in Mind by your own name, and do not violate your own peace by separating yourself from your indwelling Christ. A persistent practice of this realization will heal anyone of negative self-consciousness and will energize and vitalize the true positive Self-Consciousness. (page 96)
