SPIRITUAL TREATMENT DEFINED
Question—How may we determine whether we are working spiritually or mentally, since the Spirit must work through the mind?
ANSWER—Our work should be in accord with the unitary wholeness and goodness, it should always be constructive, dealing with the highest values and it should desire nothing for itself which it d0es n0t desire for others. With this as a criterion, no one need fear the result of his work.
EGOISM AND EGOTISM EXPLAINED
Question—Explain the difference between the egoist and the egotist.
ANSWER—An egoist is one who recognizes the real self as an individualization of the universe. Three great examples have been Jesus, Walt Whitman and Emerson. Different from egoism, egotism compares the self to others to the advantage of the individual. Men like Caesar, Napoleon, Louis of France, etc., are egotists. True egoism is a sense of spiritual individuality.
SUBJECTIVE EQUIVALENT
Question Can you give me a clearer understanding of the
term, "Mental Equivalent?"
ANSWER—By mental equivalent is meant the subjective embodiment of an objective desire. To further explain: when the subjective state of our thought no longer denies our objective concepts, and in so far as these objective concepts
(page 60) are in accord with reality, then will our demonstrations be made.
